    Undergraduate Teaching

    Materials chemistry (undergraduate 4years)

    This major mainly focuses on cultivating senior engineering talents with knowledge about chemistry and building materials. The students would be expected to engage in scientific research and development, technology and management in the field of materials science and engineering research and analysis, such as material preparation, the description of the phenomenon, material synthesis, physical and chemical performance measurement, etc.

    Students, through the system theoretical study and professional practice training, grasp the basic theory of material chemistry and materials science and engineering related knowledge, master of materials science research method and the modern testing technology, basic theory and basic skills of using chemical material for materials research and technology development capability.

    Main courses: inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, structural chemistry, fundamentals of materials, inorganic non-metallic materials, polymer materials, cement concrete chemistry, materials chemistry, material physics, materials synthesis and processing, modern testing technology, material quality inspection, etc.

    Polymer Materials and Engineering Major  (Undergraduate 4years)

    This major mainly develops the innovative senior engineering and technical personnel with the basic theory of polymer materials and engineering ,expertise and related engineering technology. They will be engaged in materials research, technology and product development, process and equipment design, quality inspection and evaluation, production marketing and management and other aspects of the work in the related fields of the synthesis and modification、forming applications of polymer materials, especially new polymer materials for building。

    Through theoretical study and professional training, students master the relationship between the composition, structure, synthesis and performance in polymer materials, especially the construction polymer materials;Master the synthesis mechanism of polymer materials and the production process and forming principles and process;Master the structure analysis,performance,testing and evaluation methods of the polymer materials;Have the ability to develop high-performance and multi-functional new polymer materials.

    Main courses: organic chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering principles, fundamentals of materials science, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer synthesis technology, polymer forming principle, Polymer materials testing technology, polymer composites, plastic materials, coatings and adhesives, waterproofing materials, civil engineering materials and other courses.

    Functional Materials (undergraduate course for a bachelor's degree, 4 years )

    The students of this major will have chance to be educated and trained to become a materials specialists in developing the advanced functional materials either in academic or in an industrial environment. Through the systematic study and professional training, students will learn the basic theories, expertise and practical skills of materials science and engineering which include the structures of various materials, the relationship between the preparation, processing and properties, especially the synthesis and processing technology, composition analysis, properties testing and evaluation techniques of the functional materials which related to building energy conservation .

    Main courses include inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, general physics, building physics, fundamentals of materials science, materials synthesis and processing, materials characterization, building construction and design, new energy materials, thin film technology, photovoltaic building materials, building energy conservation technology and so on.

    Inorganic non-metallic materials engineering (undergraduate, 4years)

    This major mainly focuses on cultivating senior engineering talents with the basic theory of inorganic non-metallic materials and engineering fields, building materials research and development, production, application, construction, quality testing, experimental skills and engineering application of technology. The students would be expected to engage in all kinds of building materials engineering applications, quality testing and research, development and production.

    Through the system theoretical study and professional practice training, students can master the basic law between the composition, structure, manufacturing processes, performance and application of inorganic non-metallic materials and master professional knowledge of building materials on industrial production processes and engineering applications and with the ability of testing the quality of construction materials, production management, engineering applications, the correct selection of building materials, research, development of new materials.

    Materials science and engineering- first-level discipline

     

    Materials science and engineering is one of the first batch of master degree program of Shenyang Jianzhu University, including three second-level disciplines, material physics and chemistry, materials science and materials processing engineering which all have the right to award master's degree. Scientific research platform that play an important role in disciplinary development of “materials science and engineering” includes Material testing and analysis technology lab- state key laboratory of ministry of construction, New building materials preparation technology lab- key laboratory of Liaoning province, materials engineering experiment teaching center-Liaoning provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, New building materials preparation and laboratory testing technology- key laboratory of colleges and universities in Liaoning province. Materials science and engineering is one of the three doctorate awarding project approval of Shenyang Jianzhu University.

    The subject has developed several stable research directions, including "Cold region high-performance concrete", "Ecological building materials", "Energy saving building materials and new wall materials", "Functional materials processing research on preparation and performance", etc.

    There are several large-scale instrument and equipments for cultivating graduate student and undergraduate, including X-ray diffraction, differential thermal balance, fourier infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet visible light spectrophotometer, mercury injection apparatus, coefficient of thermal conductivity instrument, the chloride ion permeability tester, contact angle tester and electrochemical workstation, engine analyzer, etc

    In recent years, the active scientific research involves more than 50 items of national, provincial and transverse research subject, including 4 Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 National Key Technology Research and Development Program of China during the “10th Five-Year Plan”, 1 National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program) and several provincial science and technology research projects. The awards obtained includes the Huaxia Construction Science and technology award, Liaoning Province Technical Invention Award, more than 10 Liaoning province science and Technology Progress Award, 14 Shenyang city science and technology progress award. More than 19 patents and 300 papers are published, of which more than 80 articles can be found on SCI, EI and ISTP. At present, more and more projects are in researching, including 3 National Key Technology Research and Development Program of China during the “11th Five-Year Plan”, 2 General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 Program), more than 30  other provincial projects, more than 32 million yuan of scientific research funding.
